Goats hold off Trojan surge

The Groesbeck Goats nearly snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, but hung on just enough to halt the West Trojan rally in West in time to secure a 55-54 win Tuesday night. The Goats are now 11-10 on the season and begin District 19-3A play against Waco Connally in Waco Friday night.
For the first three quarters, the Goats seemed to easily have the upper hand in the game as they added to their lead quarter by quarter. They led 18-14 after one period. It was 35-24 at the half, a seven point pickup in margin between them and the Trojans. By the end of the third, Groesbeck had its lead up to 48-34. Then came the fourth quarter and chaos rained downed on the Goat game as far as coach Alex Ihler and his team were concerned. West turned the game around and outscored the Goats 20-7 to make the final score 55-54 Groesbeck.
