Needlework group gives hand-stitched treasures to others
By Roxanne McKnight
A needle and thread can bind fabric together, but the love of needlework binds together a group of Mexia-area women.
They call themselves the Knit-Wits, and they meet every Tuesday morning at First United Methodist Church, Mexia, to share a few hours of camaraderie as they peacefully knit, crochet or even embroider.
The group has been around six years and includes members from various churches and denominations, Methodist, Baptist, Catholic and others. Though most are from Mexia, they welcome all who love needle-work and have at least one member proud to call Groesbeck home.
“Anyone that would want to come, we welcome them,” said Deborah Hogan, one of a dozen needle-workers meeting on a recent Tuesday.
