Romeo ‘Romie’ Marson
The angelic hosts came for Mr. Romeo Marson, 74, on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, at Fairfield Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Fairfield, surrounded by loving family and devoted friends.
Viewing will be from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, at Moore’s Angelic Funeral Home, 406 Monroe St. in Teague.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 16, at 11 a.m. in Fairfield No. 1 Church of God In Christ at 1321 S. Fairway St. in Fairfield, with Elder David Algood officiating. Interment will follow at New Zion Cemetery, also in Fairfield.
Romeo Marson was born Oct. 2, 1939, in the city of Merida, county of Leyte, in the Philippine Islands.
He grew up in in Merida, and completed school in the Philippines. Romeo attended Southwestern University in City Cupu, Philippines, and Lincoln Technical Institute, Grand Prairie.
Romie was employed by Kipps Restaurant, Arlington; R& H Muffler Shop, Fairfield; B&B Automotive, Buffalo; and R. H. Duncan Construction, Lufkin. He was an automotive technician, small-engine technician, automotive and diesel truck mechanic and retried from Johnny McCloud Motor Sales in Fairfield.
Mr. Marson enjoyed fishing, working on small engines and his favorite dog, Bliss Boy; and his passion was visiting the nursing homes and leading devotion at the home.
Deacon Marson had been a member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Fairfield Missionary Baptist Church and Fairfield No. 1 Church Of God In Christ.
He was chairman of the Benevolence Committee, member of the United Brotherhood, Lebanon District Brotherhood and the Fairfield Male Chorus.
Romie was preceded in death by his parents and a special friend, Bertha Davis.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Bobby, Mary Anne and Lito Marson, of the Manilla, Philippines; and Tenesha Marson, of Palestine; cousins Adelina Ingogolio and husband Pete, of Parsippany, N.J.; Dr. Rolly Marson, Ormoc City, Leyte, Philippines; nieces Josephine Ellis and Lurli Haeussler, Parsippany, N.J., and Emily, of Los Angeles; nephews Gerlo Marson, of Los Angeles; and Romel Marson, of St. Augustine, Fla.; a great-niece, Danielle Haeussler, and great-nephew, Matthew Haeussler, of Merida, Philippines; his extended family, James and Patricia Small, George and Dolly Stampley, and Leonard Burns, all of Fairfield; and Elbert Gillespie, of Fairfield; and his favorite pet dog, Bliss Boy.
